We’re half-way through the year and as we hit the 4th of July, new releases are at a bit of a lull. Ever since launching this newsletter, I’ve feared the week with a lack of stellar new release and while there’s so good stuff to check out right now, I can’t imagine anything here really sticking through to end of year lists.
That being said, Big Red Machine is back and as many predicted and/or expected, it the new album will feature Taylor Swift on two tracks as well as Fleet Foxes, Sharon Van Etten, and others. This week alone they released three songs from the project including the first collab with Swift.
Rico Nasty also shared a sincere pop banger that moves further from her rap/scream past and into something that still explodes with her energy, but on a much more approachable scale. Black Dice shared a song from their first new album in a decade and Woods dropped a new single from their upcoming deluxe edition of last year’s Strange to Explain.
And in what seems to make no sense to me, the official soundtrack to Seinfeld will see its first release. Even as a Seinfeld obsessive, I can’t imagine the 33 tracks will be exciting or interesting to almost anyone.
