July hasn’t been a blockbuster month for new music and has really coasted on the Songs of the Summer from the rising queens of Pop like Charli XCX, Sabrina Carpenter, and Chappell Roan. This week could see another name added to the list as Ice Spice drops her long-awaited debut full-length record. While she’s already had hits that have made her a mainstay, this could be the moment that propels her status to the next level.
Retro dream-pop duo Cults made a splash over a decade ago with their gentle ‘60s pop aesthetics and breakout hit “Go Outside.” They’re back today with a new record that does move the needle on their sound while retaining their sticky-sweet charm.
Best known for being one-half of the electro-psych band Darkside, Dave Harrington has dropped his latest collection of distilled, ambient-influenced jazz tracks with frequent collaborator Spencer Zahn (amongst others) which should make for a rich and detailed listen.
It’s been nearly eight years since electro-pop group Empire of the Sun released their last album, but today they’re back with a new collection of tunes that brings their synth-wave dance vibes back into the mix complete with neon visions and streaks of glitzy beats to the dance floor.
Mostly associated with underground garage-rock dynamo Ty Segall, Wand have been making a name for themselves in the psych-punk scene for a while now and have garnered a reputation as a hard-working band that can make grand statements that range from alt-rock to prog-punk and their new record just might be one of their sharpest yet.
Despite their underwhelming reception at this year’s Coachella, Blur remain one of the most quintessential brit-pop bands of all time and their new live album captures them in all of their glory at the iconic Wembley Stadium.
Prolific singer-songwriter Bill Callahan also has a new live album out today that focuses mostly on his most recent records and not the golden-era of his days under the moniker Smog. Still, the live setting really encourages Callahan to veer from his more structured compositions and rough them up into something a bit noisier that showcases his range and gives good reason for you to grab a ticket to see him the next time he comes to town.
For the first time in 34 years, the original line-up of Jane’s Addiction has released a new song. Now that Dave Navarro has re-joined the band on tour, the group played “Imminent Redemption” live at a recent London gig and this week they dropped their first new song since 1990’s Ritual de lo Habitual.
Last weekend, MUNA put on a killer set at Pitchfork Music Festival and during their show, the group played lead singer Katie Gavin’s new single “Aftertaste.” This week, Gavin shared the studio recording and announced her debut solo record would be out later this year.
The best band since Oasis, Enumclaw, are gearing up to release their sophomore record and this week they shared the second single from the upcoming release. It’s yet another crunchy guitar tune with huge drum sounds and a burning groove that gets jolted with big riffs and gruff vocals.
The last record from post-hardcore band Touché Amoré, 2020’s Laments, was their biggest yet. With the announcement of its follow-up coming this fall, the band dropped the lead single “Nobody’s,” which finds the band doing just what they do best.
Peel Dream Magazine don’t like to stick to a pattern and with each release, they change up their sound in bold and imaginative ways. Their latest single, “Wish You Well” continues to find the band moving toward a ‘90s post-rock, lounge, and krautrock vibe.
Twenty years since their last album Pockets, the jazzy/post-rock/slowcore group Karate have decided that the band has more to say following their reunion tour and posted not one, but two new tracks along with the announcement of their first new record in two decades.
