Summer is off to a slow start for new music, but things are looking to pick up next week. For now, we have new ones from Grammy Award-winner H.E.R. and Mykki Blanco, plus an EP from Country Westerns.
Tyler, the Creator put up some billboards, released a phone number, dropped his new single “LUMBERJACK,” and then announced his latest album, Call Me If You Get Lost, will be out next week. Vince Staples also announced his next album (it’s self-titled) and dropped a track called “LAW OF AVERAGES.” We also got new ones from Kamasi Washington, Soccer Mommy, Yves Tumor, Aldous Harding and Liars.
Diana Ross is set to release her first new album in fifteen years and shared a new song. She also revealed that her new record would also feature Jack Antonoff, putting her in company with many other pop stars dominating the top of the charts.
Last weekend, The Strokes played the first full-capacity, fully-vaccinated show in the city since March 2020. On Sunday, the Foo Fighters will play the first full-capacity, fully-vaccinated arena event in fourteen months and it goes down at Madison Square Garden. The band also shared that they’ll be releasing a disco album for Record Store Day in July which will be a mix of Bee Gees covers and live takes from their latest, Medicine at Midnight.
Today, Bandcamp is honoring and celebrating Juneteenth with their second annual fundraiser in which 100% of their share of sales will go to the NAACP Legal Defense Fund in order to support their ongoing efforts to promote racial justice through litigation, advocacy, and public education. If you’re looking to buy some records, this is a prime occasion!
