This week’s Gold Soundz is an abridged version as I’m currently traveling through Europe (next week’s will also be abridged). Nevertheless, here are some new tunes to help get you to the weekend.
The London DJ duo Overmono bring their debut LP and give their glitchy techno some big-room energy that will sure to pack some dance floors at clubs everywhere. Kaytranada and Aminé have teamed up to release their debut LP as well.
Earlier this week, Daft Punk debuted an unreleased track with Strokes frontman Julian Casablancas at the Centre Pompidou in Paris. The demo will be included on the upcoming anniversary edition of their last album, Random Access Memories. Arlo Parks is set to release her sophomore album soon and this week she shared a new single that features Phoebe Bridgers, perhaps the most in-demand collaborator of late.
The legend Dolly Parton has announced her first ever “rock” album and it’ll be out later this year. The tracklist features an unbelievable collection of pretty much every big name in rock and roll you can imagine (as well as an unfortunate and unnecessary appearance from Kid Rock :vomit-face-emoji:). Today we have the first solo single from the record, “World on Fire.”
After making a variety of hit films, Janelle Monaé has finally announced the follow-up to Dirty Computer will arrive later this year and this week she shared the new single, “Lipstick Lover.”
Dreamy, glitch-pop DJ Jessie Lanza announced a new album would be on the way later this year, and this week she dropped the new single “Midnight Ontario.” Taking some time away from Run the Jewels (although the duo still has some tour dates this coming fall), Killer Mike has a solo LP coming and shared another single from the record, “Motherless.”
