As expected, today features very little new music so Gold Soundz is off for the week. Instead of this week’s new music, here are some albums from this year that I did not cover when they were released, but are worth your time! If you are looking for something brand new, Sunn O)))’s Metta, Benevolence. BBC 6Music: Live On The Invitation Of Mary Anne Hobbs is out today as is the soundtrack to PT Anderson’s new film, Licorice Pizza.
Also, out this week is the new Beatles’ documentary Get Back by Peter Jackson. It’s streaming three parts on Disney+ and is a mandatory watch for any diehard fan.
LCD Soundsystem also kicked off their 20 night residency at Brooklyn Steel. I went to night 2 and will attend a few more before the end of the run. Real Estate also came to Brooklyn this week to celebrate the 10th anniversary of their album, Days. I went to that as well which was a fun fun of nostalgia right before the holidays.
Today is also Record Store Day: Black Friday, a great day to go out and support your local record stores! There are lots of limited and new releases out today and you can read all about them here. As you most likely know from reading this news letter, there is a vinyl crisis on-hand so doing anything you can to support the artists and small businesses really matters.
