Labor Day Weekend is here and as the summer comes to a semi-official end, we’re a little light on brand new music. The big hitter this week is Drake’s long-awaited Certified Lover Boy which is complete with perhaps the worst album art of the year.
Lady Gaga has also shared a new remix album of last year’s Chromatica and Julien Baker has an EP of remixes from this year’s Little Oblivions.
One of the biggest news items this week, however, is the return of ABBA. On Thursday, the group announced their first new album in 40 years and shared two new singles. They’ll perform in London this coming winter in a virtual concert which looks pretty epic as well.
Lil Nas X also announced his debut album, Montero, will be out on September 17 and features some killer collaborations. Two years after his breakout and record-breaking single “Old Town Road,” the artist is set for one of the biggest debuts of the year.
In terms of new songs, this week we’re led by the latest banger from Mr Twin Sister which could be a last minute soundtrack to your last weekend of the summer. Bachelor, the duo of Palehound and Jay Som, shared a one-off single that follows their debut album from earlier this year and finally, we have yet another Metallica cover from their upcoming “Black Album” tribute and it’s from none other than Kamasi Washington!
